Universal Music Germany re-releases the first joint album production by Katharina Franck & Ulrike Haage „Two Faces“ (1991). The title song was written as my reaction to the horrible massacre on Tian‘anmen Square in Beijing 1989. This piece was originally composed for the band Vladimir Estragon (Alfred Harth, FM Einheit, Phil Minton, Ulrike Haage). Katharina wrote a moving text for it and we recorded the new interpretation as a vocal-with-string-quartet version. Wonderfully recorded by the well known engineer Carmen Rizzo. The whole album was born in the Sunset Sound Studios, Los Angeles, together with wonderful musicians like the guitarist Chris Bruce (Meshell Ndegeocello), Jonathan Melvoin, David Daoud Coleman and many more. The original cover photo was taken by photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn. Re-listen, re-discover the music on: Spotify Apple Music and many more digital platforms!
August also brings the TV Premiere of „Diese Sendung ist kein Spiel_Die unheimliche Welt des EZ“ by film director Regina Schilling (Igor Levit_No Fear, Kulenkampffs Schuhe…). The film „This show is no game“ focuses on the first decades of the popular ZDF series „Aktenzeichen XY ungelöst“, which was launched by the then 38-year-old Eduard Zimmermann and moderated until 1997. The world’s first „true-crime format“ was born and at the same time interactive television. In 1967, the Adenauer era was in its final throes. Soon Germany is governed by the SPD, conservative forces are in trouble, women want independence and equal rights, the RAF shakes society, the 68ers determine the discourse. For 30 years, Zimmermann will fuel the fears of West German post-war society. From the historical distance, a deeper finding emerges for the director Regina Schilling (No Fear_Igor Levit): the programmes transport strikingly clear values and world views, about women and men, perpetrators, victims, media and minorities…Watch here on 10 August or in the ZDF Mediathek.
