From March on I am working on musical projects, all of which are equally wonderful, engaged and unintentionally political.I set to music the poem Mulberry Grove by poet Gonca Özmen. The wonderful actress Veronika Bachfischer (Schaubühne Berlin) and my long-time partner-in-crime Ken Yamamoto, a fantastic spoken word poet, will also be taking part. And I’m currently writing the music for the radio play adaptation All the Light We Don’t See by Anthony Doerr. a moving book that is unfortunately terribly topical. There will also soon be a follow-up film project to Berlin 1945 -Diary of a Metropole. A kind of prequel. Here, too, it’s about a topic that apparently can’t be imagined out of human history. Strong stories, lots of music, many thoughts that move us all…
I am participating at a night of music and prayers in the Gedächtniskirche, Berlin. This wonderful initiative gathered musicians to form a stream of music without interruptions. I am playing at the end on Thursday, march 24 at 8.30 am. Piano solo meditations after a night of music and prayers for peace in the Ukraine. There are hardly words for this senseless slaughtering and endless murdering … so more then 40 musicians create a sounding prayer instead. The entrance is free and all donations go to the Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe. What an impressive project in an impressive place.
